Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks 2009
The annually held Macy’s Fourth of July Parade is celebrating the 400th anniversary of the exploration of the Hudson River by Henry Hudson. The 2009 fireworks will run for approximately 30 minutes and will be set off over the Hudson River instead of the standard East River. The breathtaking display of fireworks will be coordinated with patriot music by The New York Pops and Steve Reineke. This year’s show will feature over 40,000 shells popping at more than 1,500 per minute and the best views are New Jersey or the city’s West Side. Show starts at approximately 9:30p.m. so get an early seat for the incredible show.
Nathan’s Famous Fourth of July International Hot Dog Eating Contest
What’s a Fourth of July celebration without hot dogs? Join infamous establishment Nathan’s Hot Dogs this 4th of July at noon for the hot dog eating contest of all hot dog eating contests. Tip: an early arrival with ensure a good view.
Fourth of July Beach Celebration with Water Taxi
Hop aboard the Water Taxi for a Fourth of July celebration complete with a cash bar, snacks and best of all, a top notch view of the fireworks from Hunter’s Point in Long Island City. Be advised that the cost is $25, doors open at 12p.m. and guests can enjoy the fireworks from a lawn chair or beach blanket. VIP tickets are also sold for $200 and include all access passes to an open bar, food and a tented area.
Battery Park 4th of July Concert- Sonic Youth
One of the best things to do in New York City during the summer is to enjoy an outdoor concert for free. Watch a performance by contemporary band Sonic Youth at 3:30p.m. Tickets will be available to the public starting June 12.
